I have written on the subject enough times that I don't think I need to expound on my points any further. This article appeared compliments of MSNBC today...
There is no longer any question on the matter folks...THIS IS AN ACT OF WAR AGAINST A U.S. CITIZEN AND A MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS!
Mexico may be under new leadership since the election of President Enrique Pena Nieto, and he has only been in office a matter of months, but it is slowly becoming apparent that he will be as effective as his predecessor in ending the reign of terror these cartels have used in becoming the real law in Mexico.
We'll skip the part where I go in to my rant regarding how high up the political chain the corruption goes.
As a retired fireman and U.S. Marine I have never been one to give up hope easily, but these kidnappings have never ended up in anything but adding more bodies to the 70,000-plus body count this "interdiction" has racked up thus far. This so-called war the Mexican government has waged against these drug smuggling animals has produced a death toll higher than many wars in the last century. If memory serves we've already lost one, about a year ago, a diplomatic attache with the U.S. consulate. He and his wife were gunned down leaving a childs birthday party.
Reservist or full time soldier, on duty or off, these animals have now taken, and most likely killed, AN AMERICAN SOLDIER.
Enough corrupt and ineffective government sponsored games. Enough of politicians making promises that amount to sending more policemen and soldiers to die as "proof" of their efforts. Enough of finding bound and decapitated bodies. This war is already spilling on to U.S. soil. I find it amazing it does not make more national headlines, but if you dig just beneath the surface you'll find stories from the border states no different from the story I linked above.
This is a subject being ignored when one of the most important issues in politics today is being debated in the halls of our very own Congress. Immigration. Those against allowing citizenship to the millions of illegal Mexicans sneaking in to this country need only check the latest body count to understand the reason why these folks are willing to risk so much to come here. I blame them not one bit.
Now these cartels have committed an act of open war against the United States of America.
I now call to President Obama...Sir, you've worked to understand the war in the Middle East as your predecessor never did. You are drawing down our troops which, in my opinion, was the wisest and best of choices. Now it is time to wage a war that can make a difference for both the every day citizens of Mexico and the drug issues here at home. Offer President Nieto the assistance of the United Stated military as an autonomous force to track and face down these pigs once and for all.
If he refuses we get a better idea how high up that chain the corruption goes.
If he refuses...perhaps it's time we added another State to the Union...another star to our flag.
Semper Fi Corporal Torres III...and may God be with you and your father and uncle.
